NYWBA BY-LAWS – PROPOSED AMENDMENTS
A vote of the NYWBA membership to ratify proposed amendments to the NYWBA By-Laws and WBASNY By-Laws will take place at NYWBA’s Annual Membership Meeting on April 26, 2017.
BACKGROUND: NYWBA is a founding Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY). This year, all WBASNY Chapters must amend their By-Laws with respect to indemnification, insurance, and the need to give timely notice to WBASNY concerning any lawsuits or threats of suits against WBASNY, its Chapters, Women’s Bar Foundations, or those acting on their behalf. WBASNY has also made other recommendations for minor amendments to Chapter By-Laws.
The NYWBA Board voted at its March 8, 2017 Meeting to adopt amendments proposed by WBASNY with respect to indemnification, insurance, and the need to give timely notice to WBASNY; and to reflect in NYWBA’s By-Laws (a) WBASNY’s “classes of membership” and (b) elections are held in April. Board also voted to add a new category of membership in the NYWBA Advisory Council for members who have been in good standing for more than ten (10) years and are elected to the Advisory Council by the Board.
