The Assistant Corporation Counsel will be assigned to the Mayor’s Office of Special Enforcement (OSE), which is within the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice.  OSE is responsible for coordinating enforcement efforts across City agencies to address quality of life issues including illegal conversions of apartment buildings into hotels, unlicensed massage parlors, lawless clubs, and trademark counterfeiting bazaars. OSE’s enforcement efforts span all five boroughs to address dangerous conditions at properties throughout the City that require a coordinated, multi-agency response.  OSE staff members include fire prevention inspectors, building inspectors, investigators, police officers, deputy sheriffs, and attorneys.

Part-time Peer Positions, Academy for Justice-Informed Practice
The Academy for Justice-Informed Practice is seeking 5 peers with lived experience in the mental health system to speak with groups of New York City Police officers about their experiences. Working in teams of 3, speakers will participate in a panel presentation, to help members of the NYPD better understand and empathize with people in mental health crisis. This unique opportunity is paid and is part of the NYPD’s Crisis Intervention Training (CIT). Those selected will work 1-3 hours per week, 1-4 weeks per month. Public speaking experience is not necessary, but candidates must be comfortable speaking in public.
